Boston, Massachusetts had a huge problem when it comes to traffic. They already have a prominent six lane highway named the Central Artery which circled all of downtown. The Central Artery allowed 75,000 vehicles to pass in 1959, but today, 200,000 vehicles are now using the Central Artery, making it one of the most jam-packed highways in America. 10 hours or more of traffic take place each day in the Central Artery. Accidents here is four times greater than the average because of the elevated highways are starting to deteriorate. Annual costs to motorist caused by Central Artery’s traffic jams area also affected because of mishaps, delayed deliveries and wasted fuel.
