2008 California Building Code Changes (Part 1)

Taking effect on January 1, 2008 is the 2008 California Building Code. Some of the more prominent areas of the change have centered on environmentally friendly construction, equal access for disabled persons, and more fire safety. This new set of codes is based on the latest national as well as international model building codes.
The chair of the Building Standards Commission and the Secretary of the State and Consumer Services Agency, Rosario Marin, stated that this will put California back to the forefront in the use of the latest technology for code enforcement, safe construction, fire prevention, and building safety.
